After a visit to the Nut House, where there is an opportunity to purchase many varieties of nuts at a very reasonable price, we take a break for lunch by the lake. We then travel over the river past the historic Goulburn Weir and into the Whroo Forest. This is Gold country and after passing the modern Bailston Mine we come to the old workings of the Balaclava Mine and the ghost town of Whroo. There is much to see and learn here before we move on to Rushworth, pass the Waranga Basin and travel through Murchison and Violet Town before reaching our home, for the next few nights, at Benalla..

This is your chance to buy your preserves at unbelievably low prices. Lunch time sees us in the Mall with a great choice of eating places. We have time to check out the shops, take in the view from the tower or visit the Museum, before we head to DECA, the driver training complex. Here we find out first hand what is being done to improve safety on our roads. Back, via the sleepy country town of Dookie, to our motel Once refreshed we take the short drive to the famous Tatong Tavern, for our evening meal before a night out at the Fifties style Swanpool Cinema. We should all sleep well tonight!

Day Three ( B L D )
This morning we go east to Glenrowan, scene of Ned Kelly’s last stand. Stop at Morrissons of Glenrowan for some instruction on the finer points of wine.
The small family winery of John Gehrig is next, and being on the banks of the King River, is a delightful spot for a BBQ lunch. After lunch it is Milawa’s turn to welcome us when we stop at Milawa Mustards, and the Cheese Factory. Next on the agenda is a visit to the Wangaratta and a town tour of this rural city. If time permits we will take a short drive to see the gold dredge at Eldorado before returning to Wangaratta, for our evening meal. We then return to our motel in Benalla.
